While the Illini were able to stay tough against GVSU for most of the game on Friday, it was not to be their night, or their weekend. The Lakers outscored the Illini 12-2 over the weekend, 7-2 on Friday night and 5-0 on Saturday.

On Friday night Grand Valley scored the first goal of the weekend, getting a shot past Illini goaltender Ben Mazurek just over six minutes into the first period. The Illini would respond four minutes later with a goal from Francesco Addante. The Lakers and Illini swapped another pair of goals in the second period as the Illini's Jack Kolb and Lakers Eric Hulford each found the back of their opponents net. The Illini let in another goal early in the third period, but after the halfway point of the period Grand Valley scored four more goals in a span of eight minutes. Final Score: Illini 2 - Lakers 7

Saturday night's game also ended with a five goal differential in the scoring, but the Illini just could find a way to get the puck past GVSU's goaltender, Ryan Gilmore. The Lakers Gage Thrall started off the scoring halfway through the first period and added another goal in the third. The Lakers added a goal in the second period and three more, including Thralls, in the third, making it a 5-0 shutout for the Lakers. Final Score Illini 0 - Lakers 5

The Illini's record now sinks to 0-8-0 on the season with the next games being on November 4th and 5th against No. 9 Ranked Maryville University.
